Symptoms of Polyoma

From One who has seen a Polyoma outbreak:

I am willing to help all on any thing i know about this virus as many have helped me. What I have seen in my babies were: slow crop, some times it would be hard, as if the body was sucking up the liqued and leaving the solids there to sit.

Some times the crop would be lower down and seem not to feel full, ( I only gave a certain amount from the syringe each time though), bruising, of course some would sleep with the puffed up look all the time. feathers not growing right and some would show no signs at all, one minute being alive and having fun, the next dying in my hands. That is just what I have seen with mine, and I know I am forgetting some and will write back when I remember them. But most of all the abnormal crop and bruising are very clear signs of this virus.

I did remember one more sign of the virus which is eye irritation, 2 of my birds had a glassy/wet to their eyes.

From Susan: The eye problems would be a result of a secondary infection...which be bacterial...more specifically, *mycoplasma* I never figured out the specific cause, but did learn that it can be treated with an eye-spray made up from Tylosin powder...which will usually clear up the eye within 2-7 days.
